Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, it’s the best time of the year and it’s even better with two new ink colors DECK THE HALLS and CRANBERRY FIZZ from Catherine Pooler!! Two beautiful and rich colors perfect for the holiday season. With the addition of black ink for my sentiment, I only used these two ink colors and the CP Sweetest Season Stamp Set and Coordinating Die Set.
Candy Cane Wishes: The Sweetest Season stamp has so many peppermint images, it’s perfect for creating backgrounds. To create my backgrounds, I always start with the largest image which is the candy cane image. Then I added in some circle peppermints and then the little star image in the little nook and crannies. To complete the card, I added the Candy Cane wishes sentiment to a circle die cut, added the four dots under the sentiment (normally used as an accent on the wrapped candies) along with a little hint of green with the starburst image. The decorated card panel was then adhered to an Ebony Cardstock CardBase.
Peace, Joy and Peppermint: One of my favorite Clean and Simple techniques is to stamp and die-cut several little elements and then stack and play with them to create a focal point on a card panel. My tip for this type of layout, is to create a faux triangle or diamond with all of your stacked image elements. This helps keep your images balanced with your white space into one focal area on your card.
Tips to create added detail to Clean and Simple Cards:
- For extra depth to the clean and simple design, I created a shadow effect with the Peace & Joy die cut by adding a white offset Peace & Joy to the three-layered black sentiment.
- Add detailing to images: My favorite part of the Sweetest Season Stamp Set are all the extra stamps that you can add to the wrapped candies and circle peppermints.
- Use pops of color in fun ways to bring extra attention to your card. I did this by mixing and matching the Cranberry Fizz and Deck the Halls candies along with the little starbursts around the sentiment.
So there we are friends, two clean and simple Holly Jolly Peppermint Themed cards. Added bonus: Once I have Clean and Simple patterns like this defined, they are super easy to mass produce which is perfect for the holiday card making season.
