You Did It! Whimsical Graduation Cards with Essentials by Ellen

Hi Friends! Can you believe it’s one more day until April?! Spring is in the air which also means it’s getting close to Graduation Time. This we’re celebrating the end of elementary school so I wanted to create some whimsical Graduation Cards for my daughter as we hug and cheer her on as she crosses into Middle School. She has a pretty silly-slapstick sense of humor, so my number one goal was to create cards that would make her smile and maybe get one of those “Mom, are you kidding me…?!” expressions…so the quirkier & “punnier” the better. I can’t wait to ask her “Why did the chicken cross the rainbow?” LOL 

I started both cards with a cheerful stamped rainbow from the Better Days Ahead Stamp Set and as the focal point. Then I went to my Essentials by Ellen Stamp Collection to find cute critters that could help celebrate her big milestone. I chose the Chicken Family from the Good Egg Stamp Set and Bigfoot from the Lil’ ‘Squatch Stamp Set. For extra whimsy, I colored the edges of the critters in rainbow Copic colors. I added the You Did It Sentiment from the That Thing You Did Stamp Set. For added *pun*, I included the You Da Beast to the BigFoot Graduation Card. To finish the Rainbow Fun Graduation Cards, I added my favorite Hai Supply Black Star Sequins.

Taylored Expressions Craft Kit Exclusives Release Card Inspiration: Happy Hex

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! Today is Taylored Expressions New Release day with individual products from the exclusive Happy Hex & Like Gnome Other Craft Kits being added to the shop! If you missed out on the full kit or had your eye on individual items, it’s a great time to add some goodies to your cardmaking supplies collection.

I have a secret to share…I have a major crush on the Taylored Expressions Gold Fine Detail Embossing Powder. So today, I’m sharing a gold embossed Thank You Mini Slim Card using products from the Happy Hex Kit along with the Hexagon Mini Slim Trifold Template + Dies and the beautiful Full of Flowers-Singles Stamp & Dies.

For my I ❤️ Gold Embossing Card, I started by prepping my Sugar Cube card panel (trimmed to size to fit a Top Fold Oreo Slim Line Card Base) with anti-static powder and then stamped the Happy Hex Mini Slim Background with VersaMark. Then I applied gold embossing powder to the VersaMark impression and set it in place with a heat tool. For the gold Hexagon Sentiment Layer, I applied the VersaMark Pad directly to a Sugar Cube Hexagon Die Cut and then added gold embossing powder to the entire die cut and heat set. To keep up with the gold theme, I also stamped and gold heat embossed the Thank You Sentiment from Happy Hex Add-Ons Stamp and then die cut using the large hexagon from Happy Hex Dies. After layering the Hexagons, I added blue/aqua Copic Colored Florals (B93/97, BG11/53/79 and G00) from the Full of Flowers -Singles Stamp Set. To finish the card with a little extra sparkle, I added White Rhinestones to and around the florals.

Taylored Expressions Stamp Joy Exclusives Release Card Inspiration

Hi Friends! I’m so excited about the Taylored Expressions Stamp Joy Exclusives Release. If like me you couldn’t make it to the virtual Stamp Joy last fall, several of the exclusive products that were part of the event are now available for purchase! 

Today, I’m sharing two Jewel-Tone Ink Blended cards featuring the Full of Flowers Cling and Clear Stamp Set and Full of Flowers Layering Stencil. I started by stamping the Full of Flowers background image with VersaMark Ink to Sugar Cube cardstock and heat embossed with fine detail gold embossing powder. Then using the coordinating layering stencil, I went to work experimenting with different ink combinations to add color to the florals and greenery. To complete the cards, I added a vellum stitched circle and a gold embossed Thinking of You and Thanks so Much hand lettered sentiment.

Warm Jewel Tone Colors: 

  • Greenery: Mint Julep (one layer for the lighter shade & two layers for the darker shades)
  • Flowers: Cupcake + Strawberry, Guava+Watermelon and Honey+Potato Chip+Peaches and Cream. 

Cool Jewel Tone Colors: 

  • Greenery: Mint Julep+Spearmint+Poblano Pepper and Blueberry
  • Flowers: Lavender Glaze+Plum Punch+Jelly Donut
