Kit Project Inspiration

With the envelope seal as my cardmaking muse, I used the Shooting Stars background stamp to heat emboss gold stars to a Blue Corn envelope and to white text weight copy paper for the envelope liner. To create the liner, I used the Taylored Expressions Scalloped Envelope Liner Die. Decorated Envelopes & Liners two of my favorite ways to bring handmade goodness to the recipient’s happy mail!

This was a two-fer project using both the negative and positive die cuts from the Crescent Moon Die. I die-cut the moon first from a white piece of Sugar Cube cardstock. Making sure I had just enough space to fit the envelope seal inside the negative die cut of the moon. I mean seriously, could it get any better than the envelope seal fits perfectly within the crescent moon shape. LOOOVE!!!

With the moon knock-out (negative piece), I add a Champagne Foiled Star card panel behind the moon. Then I added the envelope seal as the focal point of my card and decorated the panel with gold foil cardstock star die cuts from the Over the Moon Die Collection and little stamped stars in Sea Salt ink from the Clearly Crafty Over the Moon Stamp Set. The sentiment was stamped in Blueberry Ink and die cut using the sentiment label die included in the kit.

For the Over the Moon for You card, I layered the white crescent moon die cut to a silver foil crescent moon that I also embossed using the die and and embossing pad kit. The sentiments where gold embossed and cut using the coordinating word die and sentiment labels. Oh my goodness, the Foil-It Over the Moon Panels are absolutely GORGEOUS so I layered the moon and sentiment to a Gold Foiled Panel. I foiled the panel using the Mini Minc at heat seating 4 and boy oh boy the shimmer and shine of the gold foil agains the Blue Corn background is Stunning!

A Note About the Taylored Expressions Cardmaking Kits

The vast majority of the individual items included in our cardmaking kits will not be available to purchase individually in the future. While we may, on rare occasions, release a kit item into our regular inventory at a later time, this will no longer be an option for the majority of the products. Instead, they will remain exclusive to the kits and may only be purchased as part of a kit while supplies last.Since our curated cardmaking kits can sell out quickly, we encourage you to purchase the kits you love when they are released, as they will not be restocked once they have sold out. We intend to release a kit the last Tuesday of each month at 9am (Central), and a sneak preview will be posted on the TE Blog on the Saturday prior to the release.

To be notified of new kit releases, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Instagram! Stay tuned for another fabulous kit next month!

Taylored Expressions Graduation Release Inspiration

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! It’s time to celebrate—the Taylored Expressions 2022 Graduation Release is now available! I have so many cards to share with you—all with lots of glitter & foil for extra sparkle and shine!

Create-in-Quads Hooray Layering Stencil

Let’s Celebrate with the Create in Quads-Hooray Layering Stencil! Four celebration A2 Background panels with one layering stencil!! I was in a sparkles kinda mood and decided to go with a black (Poppy Seed), gold and silver glitter color combination using TE Happy Glitter Medium. Because the Happy Glitter Medium is a little transparent I first stencil a layer of Toffee Ink for Gold and Sea Salt for Silver then apply the Happy Glitter Medium over the Toffee & Sea Salt.

To dress-up the four panels, I added an A2 Thin Border in Silver & Gold Foil cardstock, Silver Glitter cardstock and Black Glossy cardstock. To the Proud of You Panel I added Black & Silver Bits & Pieces. I also added Silver Bits & Pieces to the center of the Yes You Did! fireworks panel.

For the sentiments, I gold heat embossed the High Five sentiments to Oreo Cardstock and die cut using the coordinating High Five dies. I then matched the black and white heat embossed Well Done-Building Blocks Sentiments to each of the backgrounds.

Foil-It 2022 Grad Panels with Bokeh Stars

Go Tigers! While I enjoy creating with traditional graduation colors, I thought it would be fun to customize the cards to match our local high school colors-Orange (Candy Corn & Sweet Potato Pie), Black (Poppy Seed & Oreo) & Copper Deco Foil Foil.

I used the new Bokeh Stars Layering Stencil & Blender Brushes to add the Tigers Orange & Black stars to the top of the Grad Copper Foiled Panel (I always foil first and then ink blend).

For the Congrats GRAD diamond card panel, I added the Copper Foil to the panel using the Minc Mini and then die cut the panel from a Stitched Rectangle Stacklet. The Little Bits Grad Caps where cut from Black Glossy cardstock and I adhered leftover Copper Foil to a scrap piece of cardstock and the die cut the tassel. To finish the card, I added the Glossy Black & Orange Glitter Starstruck die cuts and adhered the decorated panel to an Oreo card base.

Shout Out-You Did! It Stencil with Gold Foiling

I’m getting braver and braver with my cardmaking techniques and was excited to give foiling with Glitter Grab a try. The amazing Noriko Fairchild always works magic with stencils & foil and decided to give it a try. I think I layered a little too much glitter grab through the stencil—but hey—in the end it gives all the right glossy & gold shine.

The key to this technique is—waiting & having patience for the Glitter Grab to dry. Once dry the glitter grab turns clear with a little bit of tack you can apply the foil (pretty side up) and run it through a heat source or die cut machine. I opted for the Mini Minc at a heat setting of 4. Once the foil was applied, I went to work masking and stenciling the letters in rainbow order.

I kept the cards clean and simple, by added an A2 Gold Foil cardstock thin frame to one and black and white Embossed Yippie!, Hooray & Yay! Well Done Building Blocks to the other (yes, one of those sentiments is hiding a foil imperfection). I really enjoyed making these two cards and well worth the wait for Glitter Grab drying time.
