Today, I’m sharing two non-traditional color combinations using the Merry Blooms Card Kit.
For my first card, I experimented with an unexpected color combination and really LOVE how it turned out. Purple Poinsettias with Poblano Pepper & Dijon!?! What do you think…a color combination worth a try?

Creating the Background with the Merry Blooms Stamp, Stencil & Clear Combo Set: With my MISTI, I started my card by stamping the greenery background in Poblano Pepper Ink. Then with my Lavender TE Blending Brush, I stenciled in the Purple Poinsettias. After ink blending, I added anti-static powder to the poinsettia images so I could heat emboss the petal details with silver embossing powder. Using the clear stamps, I added Jelly Donut ink to the purple poinsettias centers and Poblano Pepper veins to the holly.

Creating the Pop-Up Elements: I used the Perfect Poinsettia die collection to create three silver foiled and silver-embossed vellum petals that I stacked together with liquid adhesive. To finish each of the poinsettias, I added a Cosmic Drip Drop to the center of each Poinsettia.
Quick Tip: For the vellum poinsettia, I first embossed the images to a piece of vellum and then used the silver poinsettia die cuts as my guide to help orient where the die should go to by matching the silver petals to the metal die.

The Joyful Season Sentiment: I prepped a piece of Jelly Donut cardstock with anti-static powder and then stamped Season’s Greetings with VersaMark Ink. I added silver embossing powder to the stamped image and heat embossed with my heat tool. I die-cut the sentiment using the coordinating Joyful Season Die Collection (not included in the kit but sold separately). To add extra dimension to the sentiment, I also used the die to cut a piece of purple foam and one extra piece of purple card stock which I then stacked together and adhered to the center of the Poinsettias.
To finish the card, I added the decorated card panel to a Dijon card base.

Purple, Poblano Pepper & Dijon Poinsettia Supplies

For my second card, I went with my favorite holiday color combination: White, Aqua/Teal & Red and flipped the design from landscape to portrait mode.

I stamped the background in Cookie Monster Ink and used my red TE Blending Brush to stencil the poinsettias with Watermelon Ink. While I was ink blending with my red Blending Brush, I also applied Watermelon & Cherry Pop ink to a scrap of Sugar Cube Cardstock which I then used to die-cut two red poinsettias using the smallest die in the Perfect Poinsettia die collection.
I prepped the stamped & stenciled background with anti-static powder. Then with VersaMark Ink and the Merry Blooms Clear Stamp Set I added the petal details and holly veins, added white embossing powder and heat set with my heat tool.

The Sentiment was white heat embossed to Watermelon cardstock using the Joyful Season Stamp and then die cut using the coordinating Joyful Season Die Collection (not included in the kit but sold separately). To add extra dimension to the sentiment, I die-cut the sentiment from a piece of red foam which I then stacked under the Merry Christmas sentiment and adhered to the center of the card.

For extra pop and shine, I stamped the Poinsettia centers with Cherry Pop Ink, adhered the Poinsettia die cuts around the sentiment and added gold drop drops to the center of all the poinsettias. To finish the card, I added the Aqua (Cookie Monster) sentiment banner and added the panel to a Cherry Pop Card Base.
