Taylored Expression Release Inspiration: Embossing Powders!

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday!! I am super excited about this Taylored Expressions release because it’s all about my absolute favorite cardmaking/stamping technique: Heat Embossing!! The release includes several new stamps/dies, embossing powders & tools. If you have not added the new TE Powder tool to your crafty toolbox…let me just say it’s a game changer.

Today, I’m sharing two mixed-media inspired cards using the new Crafty Collage Background Stamp with all the new embossing Powders: Pearl, Puff and Cookie Monster!

For all my projects, stamped the Crafty Collage Background with VersaMark Ink and prepped my backgrounds with the TE Powder tool before adding the embossing powder. I apply my embossing powder from top to bottom and side to side to make sure I have good coverage across the stamped image and then tap the edge of the panel to my work surface to remove any stray pieces of powder. I let my heat gun warm up for about 30 seconds before heat setting the powder embossing powder.

The Puff embossing is like magic how it creates a fluffy, puffy texture once heat is applied. This is going to be perfect for projects with clouds & snow! I used it today on Oreo cardstock for a blackboard kinda vibe and the sentiment that I fussy cut from the Crafty Collage Panel.

For the ink-blended backgrounds, I used blender brushes to apply Blue Raspberry, Cookie Monster, Gumball, Jelly Donut and Plum Punch inks to Sugar Cube cardstock. For a pop of color and shine, I stamped the Craft Collage to the panels and added Cookie Monster embossing powder to one panel and Pearl Embossing powder to the other panel.

I decorated each panel with die cuts from Sealed with a Kiss and Little Bits-Hearts and completed each card design with an A2 White thin border. To finish the cards, I added the decorated panel to an Eggplant and Plum Punch card base.

So there we are friends, two fun mixed media inspired cards using all the new embossing powders. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the Taylored Expressions Blog for more TE Creative Team Inspiration.

Taylored Expressions Calendar Release Inspiration

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! Are you ready for 2023?! Kidding but not kidding. Today is the day that Taylored Expressions releases their new calendar making goodies so you can get a jump start on your calendar gifting projects. Today, I’m sharing three Rainbow Easy Strip Easel Calendars using the Mini Tear Off Calendar Stacklets that are perfectly sized to work on an A2 Base and/or Panel and Mini Tear Off Calendars.

To create the Easel Stands, you’ll need one sheet of 4.25 x 11 piece of cardstock scored & folded in half (exactly the same size as a standard portrait A2 card) and a piece of 4.25 x 5.0 cardstock scored at 2.5 (down the middle) and one inch on both sides (the 1 and 4 inch marks on your scoring board) then fold at the score lines to form a W. Attach the two sides of the W flush with the bottom and top edges of the portrait cardbase using strong adhesive. Now you have yourself a self-standing Easel Calendar ready to decorate!

Let’s Decorate some Calendar Easels!

Using the TE Sticky Sheets, I had a play adhering and creating striped Easy Strip designs to create three card panels using all the Easy Strips sizes in a range of rainbow color cardstock.

I used the Mini Tear Calendar Stacklets with Sugar Cube, Oreo, silver and gold foil cardstock to create the layered frames for the 2023 TE Mini Tear Calendar. I used the smallest stitched rectangle die in the set for the top of the Calendar Easel which is perfectly sized to add a fun image and sentiment.

I was SO excited when I realized all of the images from the Bitty Borders fit perfectly! I stamped, colored with Copics and cut the Flowers, Sun/Rainbow & Zoo Critters with the coordinating dies.

For the Sun and Rainbow calendar I added some cloud die cuts and sequins for a little extra dimension.

Then I searched for matching sentiments which I found in the set (It’s Your Day), “Have a Colorful Day” from Mini Strips Fun and Funny and “Oh Happy Day” from Building Blocks-Be Bright.

To finish the calendars, I adhered the decorated Rainbow Easy Strip bases to the Oreo Easel Stands with strong adhesive. I love how bright and cheerful all three of these designs turned out AND this was my first ever Easel Calendar and let me tell you they are SO much fun to create—I’ll be gifting these to everyone this year!!

Thanks for stopping by and Big Paper Hugs! Be sure to stop by the Taylored Expressions Blog for more inspiration from the Creative Team. There’s also a fun new release promotion happening.
