Taylored Expressions Masking Stencil Add-Ons New Release Card Inspiration!

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! It’s release day over at Taylored Expressions with new Masking Stencils & Dies Add-Ons!! Masking stencils are one of my go to clean and simple essential tools and the new Add-ons are perfect for adding texture and dimension. The Scalloped Masking Stencils pair perfectly with the existing basic masking shapes: Circle, Square, Rectangle and a mini slim rectangle version too. I love how you can achieve a one-layer “layered look” without the extra bulk of die cut scallop frames!

The Diagonal Stitch Stacklets are AWESOME!!! They fit just inside or outside of the masked stencil square and rectangle shapes and are so versatile that you can also use them without the masking stencils to add extra texture and detail to frame/border your A2 panels and designs.

My first card features the Diagonal Stitch Rectangle Stacklets and boy was it an ink blending/masking stencil celebration and why use one stacklet when you can use three!? 🙂 For the stenciling, I started with the Lemon Meringue rectangle in the center of the card and added the stripe pattern from the Strip Stencil in the Holiday Stencil Strips Set. Then I masked the yellow rectangle and positioned the larger rectangle masking stencil over the card panel and created the rainbow blended frame using Lollipop, Watermelon, Pineapple and a very light blend of Cookie Monster. Then I added the Diagonal Stitch Stacklets to the inside and outside of the stenciled rectangles. To finish the card, I added a rainbow stamped Happy On the Block Die Cut (for deeper color saturation, I colored over the letters with Copic Markers) and then added white gel pen polka dots.

When I see scalloped edges the first thing I immediately think of is pretty floral designs. For my second card, I combined the Circle Scalloped Masking Stencil with the Spring Spray Stamp. To create the card, I first ran my card panel and circle stencil through my die cut machine which provided a raised “platform” to account for the height of the stencil when using it as a mask for stamping the floral image.  This way the image impression went all the way to the edges and left no extra white border when I ink blended the Lime Zest Circle Scalloped Edge. I colored the image with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (Yellow-050, Bright Yellow-052, Pink Flamingo-222, Carmine-022, Wine Red-024, Green Shadow-049, May Green-047, Light Green-041) and added black polka dots with a pen and Ebony Nuvo Drops. To complete my card, I added the white heat embossed Sentiment Strip.

With the 2021 Pantone Colors in mind, I create my yellow (Potato Chip & Yellow Meringue) and gray (Sea Salt and Earl Grey inked over with Sugar Cube) Sketchbook floral design using the Rectangle Masking Stencils, Rectangle Scalloped Stencils, Diagonal Stitched Lines Die and Wood Plank Background Stamp.

Taylored Expresssions Exclusives New Release Happy Mail Inspiration

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! Today’s the Day, the Taylored Expressions Exclusives Release is now available! If you missed out on some of the TE Exclusive (free with qualifying purchase) stamps or stencils…well several exclusives are now available to purchase!! Score!! Today, I’m sharing projects using the Big Thanks Stamp Set, Modern Mosaics Layering Stencil and the Every Birthday Stamp Set.

Big Thanks & Modern Mosaic Card Duo!!

The Modern Mosaic Layering Stamp Set is perfect for experimenting with different color combinations. I created two cards using the same color combination (Fruit Punch, Pineapple, Plum Punch, Jelly Donut and Sea Salt) with two different but coordinating looks by changing the color of the card base. For the first card I applied the stencil layers to a white card base and for the second I stenciled the design to a Fruit Punch/Pineapple/Plum Party Gradient ink-blended card panel.

Stencil Layer 1: Plum Punch, Fruit Punch, Pineapple — The combination of Fruit Punch and Pineapple created the beautiful Mango Orange.

Stencil Layer 2:  Jelly Donut, Fruit Punch and Pineapple

Stencil Layer 3: Sea Salt

The Thanks Stamps in the Big Thanks Stamp Set is the perfect size for adding a bold sentiment to your card designs. Using white embossing powder & VersMark Ink, I heat embossed the Script & Polka Dot Thanks to Oreo Cardstock. I used my paper trimmer to create the Script Sentiment Block. The Polka Dot Thanks Sentiment Block was die-cut from the smallest rectangle in the Stitched Mini Slim Stacklets. With Oreo Ink to Sugar Cube cardstock, I stamped-trimmed-adhered the coordinating sentiment strip to the Thanks Sentiment Blocks using thin foam adhesive strips.

I’m always in need of Birthday Cards and the Every Birthday Stamp Set has every Birthday Sentiment you can think of in so many fun and different fonts. This is a set I will continue to reach for as it pairs perfectly with so many Taylored Expressions Stamp Sets and Stencils.

Balloon Bouquet-Every Birthday

I paired the Happy Birthday sentiment with the Balloon Bouquet Cling and Clear Combo. Using Masking Paper and my MISTI, I stamped the balloon bouquet twice to the bottom edge of Bristol Smooth Card Panel with Oreo Ink—leaving just enough space to add the Happy Birthday Sentiment to the upper left corner. I used my favorite Rainbow Combination of Karin Markers to water color the balloons and added a few shadows using a white gel pen. To finish the card, I added little black stamped heart embellishments from the Balloon Bouquet Additions Stamp set and for extra pop I added little dots of sparkle Stickles.

Belated Birthday-Every Birthday

If there is one type of card I need to keep in my card stash—it’s the Belated Birthday Card…[insert sigh here]. I combined the Belated Birthday Wishes Sentiment with the Stars Masking Stencil using Cookie Monster, Plum Party & Jelly Donut Inks. I added the black stamped star embellishments from the Balloon Bouquet Additions Stamp Set and then added a few dots of sparkle Stickles. For a little extra pop and dimension, I heat embossed the white polka dots to the largest star using the dot grid stamp from Field Notes with white embossing powder.
