Layered Slimline Floral & Foliage Frame Card with Trinity Stamps

Hi Friends! Trinity Stamps is celebrating their 2nd Birthday with a fun new release on June 26th. There are so many great stand-alone dies, stamps and stencils in this new release. I had the opportunity to work with the new Slimline Series: Foliage Frame Stand-Alone Die along with the Wallflower stamp set which is a great new set of floral images. The Foliage Frame is so beautiful and with one pass through the die cutting machine you have a beautiful card element. New release links will be ready for purchase in the Trinity Stamps shop on June 26th.

Here’s how my project came together:

  1. Die cut the Slimline Series Foliage Frame Die (new release) from white card stock.
  2. Cut a piece of vellum into a slimline panel (3.5 x 8.5).
  3. Add anti-static powder to the vellum to prep for heat embossing.
  4. Add layers of florals from the Wallflower stamp set (new release) to the vellum with VersaMark Ink.
  5. Add White Embossing powder and heat set with a heating tool. Make sure you run your heating tool for a minute so it’s nice and hot and can melt the embossing powder quickly without burning the delicate vellum.
  6. Turn the vellum over and add your favorite distress oxide inks with a blending brush.
  7. Glue the Foliage Frame die cut to the ink blended, vellum embossing panel.
  8. For extra pop, add your favorite sparkly gems. I used the gorgeous Rainbow Reflection Multi-Sized Rainbow Rhinestone Mix
  9. The sentiment is from the Wallflowers stamp set which I heat embossed with white embossing powder on a layered sentiment strip.

Two Celebration Cards with the Catherine Pooler Let’s Party New Release

I absolutely love creating a birthday celebration on a card. All the balloons, fun colors, wrapped gifts, confetti and happy sentiments. The Yay Gifts 6×8 stamp set and coordinating dies is a BIG set with lots of great celebration images and sentiment designs. I could create so many cards and tags with this set, but for now I have two cards to share with you today.

I colored all of my images using a rainbow assortment of Zig Clean Color Brushes: Red-02, Light Carmine-021, Carmine Red-022, Dark Pink-027, Orange-070, Yellow-050, Green-040, Cobalt Blue-031, Cornflower Blue-037, Violet-080, Purple-082, Deep Violet-084.

I have two main tips with Zigs Clean Color Brush Markers: (1) Bristol Smooth Cardstock Paper works wonders with watercolor markers. (2) To keep my watercolors contained within the stamped image, I always stamp my images with VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink, add Clear Embossing powder and heat emboss your images.

Pretty Packages Slimline

When I first saw the stacked package image, I thought (1) This is going to be awesome to color (which it was) and (2) It’s absolutely perfect for a slimline card (which it was). The image is so bold and big it makes for quick and easy cardmaking…which for birthday cards…well…who hasn’t been in the situation when you forget a special event that needs a quick card to add to a birthday party package. Happens to me ALL the time.

After coloring my image, I created two slimline scalloped layer die cuts in black and white card stock and then cut a piece of hot pink card stock to 3.75 x 8.75. After embossing Celebrate to the bottom of the scallop black card panel in White Embossing Powder, I stacked all the slimline layers to a slimline card base.

Bunch of Balloons

To create my bunch of balloons, I first watercolored my images in bright and cheerful rainbow colors. Then I die cut the image and attached matching colorful twine to each balloon color using glue dots and some tape. The I stamped and die cut the YAY! sentiment.

To place everything on the card, I first adhered the balloons with strings to the top of the card base. Then I created a small channel using foam dots for the string to sit and the covered the strings with the YAY! Sentiment. At first I was going to cut the colorful balloon strings to the length of the card panel but then I thought what a fun surprise it would be to open the card with the extra long balloon strings. Something a little unexpected.

So there we are friends! Two bright and cheerful celebration cards using the new Yay Gifts! Stamp Set and Coordinating Dies. I hope you enjoyed my project and inspires you to stretch your stamps in fun new ways.
